Introducing Basic CPR Training at Blackpool Boys and Girls Clubs

This week marked an exciting milestone for the Blackpool Boys and Girls Clubs as we introduced basic CPR training to our young people across both clubs. Thanks to the addition of 10 CPR dummies, we were able to make the learning experience hands-on and engaging.

During the sessions, the young people were taught the 7 essential steps of CPR: 1️⃣ Assess the situation: Ensure it is safe to assist, and check for a pulse. 2️⃣ Call for help: Dial 999 if the person isn’t breathing, and have someone find the nearest automated external defibrillator (AED). 3️⃣ Open the patient’s airway. 4️⃣ Check for breathing: If there is no sign of breathing, begin CPR immediately. 5️⃣ Perform 30 chest compressions. 6️⃣ Deliver two rescue breaths (only if comfortable doing so). 7️⃣ Continue until an ambulance or AED arrives.

At first, there were plenty of giggles as everyone adjusted to working with the CPR dummies, but it didn’t take long for the young people to focus and take the activity seriously. They showed an impressive level of commitment and enthusiasm, fully embracing the importance of knowing what to do in an emergency.

We are incredibly proud of all the young people who participated and took their first steps toward becoming lifesavers. This initiative is part of our ongoing effort to equip our youth with practical, life-changing skills that can make a real difference in their communities.
